Privacy Policy For Text Replacement

Privacy Policy For Text Replacement

 Effective date: October 20, 2026

Last updated: October 20, 2026

This policy describes how the Text Replacement app handles information. It matches the version of the app that shows this date.

Information handling

The app deals with two different kinds of information.

1. Your text. Articles, imported files, project names, replacement rules, and replacement history stay in private app storage on this device. The app has no developer-operated server, and it does not upload your documents to one. The project database is excluded from Android cloud backup and device transfer.

2. Advertising data. When an internet connection is available and advertising is allowed, Google Mobile Ads and the User Messaging Platform may process device and advertising information. That can include an advertising identifier, IP address, device characteristics, app interactions, and diagnostic data. Google, not the app author, controls that processing under Google policies and the consent choices presented to you where those choices are required.

Text and file processing

You can paste text or open a file you select with the Android system picker. The app reads that file to show it in the editor and writes a file only when you choose a save location. UTF-8 is the default encoding. A byte-order mark for UTF-8 or UTF-16 is honored. A file that is not valid UTF-8 is not silently rewritten as if it were; you are asked before an alternate encoding is used.

Editing CSV, JSON, or XML changes the characters in the file. The app does not claim to preserve the structure or meaning of those formats. An optional check can tell you whether JSON or XML is well formed at the moment you export it.

Local project storage

Named projects, drafts, rule sets, and recent replacement history are stored in a local database inside the app sandbox. Autosave, when enabled, writes the current draft or open project on this device. You can delete a project in the app. Uninstalling the app removes its private storage. Full copies of older article text are kept only for a limited number of recent history entries so the same document is not stored indefinitely.

Internet connectivity

The app requires a working internet connection. Wi-Fi and mobile data both qualify, and the app does not prefer one over the other. If both are off, or the connection cannot reach the internet, a screen tells you to turn Wi-Fi or mobile data on. The editor stays unavailable until Retry succeeds. On startup, and when the connection changes, the app checks that a network reports internet capability and then requests a small public Google connectivity address (generate_204). That check does not include your article text. The request does reveal a network address to that endpoint, as any HTTPS request would.

Google AdMob

Advertising uses Google AdMob and only two formats: interstitial ads and app open ads. The app does not include banner, native, or rewarded ads. Ads are not shown while you are typing, selecting, pasting, replacing, previewing, saving, or exporting. A failed ad request does not stop the editor.

Advertising identifiers and device information

Depending on your device settings, regional rules, and the consent choice recorded by Google User Messaging Platform, Google may use an advertising identifier and other device information to request, measure, and limit ads. You can reset or delete the advertising identifier in Android settings. Where a privacy-options form is required, Settings in this app can open it.

Third-party advertising services

Google is the advertising provider. The Mobile Ads SDK and User Messaging Platform are Google software. Their handling of information is described in Google privacy resources linked from this screen. The app does not add another mediation network or analytics SDK.

Data sharing and processing

The developer of this app does not receive your documents on a custom server. Information needed to check connectivity, request ads, or record a consent choice can be processed by Google when those requests run. Do not read this policy as a promise that every category of information remains exclusively on the device.

Data retention and deletion

Local projects and history remain until you delete them or uninstall the app. Older history snapshots are discarded automatically after a short list of recent operations, while the history description can remain. Advertising and consent records are retained by Google according to Google policies, not by a database in this app.

Children

Text Replacement is a general writing utility and is not directed at children. The ad request is configured as not child-directed and not under the age of consent. The app is not designed to collect information from children. A parent who believes a child used the app can uninstall it to remove the local projects.

Security limitations

Android keeps private app storage separate from other apps. That is not a guarantee against a compromised, rooted, or physically accessible device. The project database is excluded from Android backup so saved articles are not copied by that backup feature. No method of local storage is perfectly secure.

Policy updates

If this policy changes, the effective date and the last-updated date shown above both change. They are formatted from the same policy release date included in the app. Continuing to use the app after that date means the updated policy applies.

Terms of use

Use Text Replacement only for text you have the right to edit. You are responsible for articles you paste, import, replace, save, and export. Replacing characters in CSV, JSON, or XML can make that file invalid. The app does not provide legal, publishing, or backup advice.

The app has no account. It does not ask you to send articles to the publisher, and the publisher does not operate a server that receives your documents. A fresh launch may show an app open advertisement after the home screen is visible. That advertisement is not shown when you return from the background, move between sections, or press Back. An interstitial advertisement may be requested only after a replacement is successfully applied. Footer buttons do not request advertisements. After an advertisement is shown, another advertisement is not requested for 15 seconds. A failed advertisement does not block editing.

If you do not agree with these terms or this policy, uninstall the app. Uninstalling removes the private projects stored by the app.
